What are Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)?

Emotional Freedom Techniques is an energy healing practice which is easy to learn and simple to use. Energy flows through the body using a system called the Meridian network. When our energy flows freely, we feel good and all is well with the world.

However, when this flow of energy is blocked, this can manifest negative feelings such as fear, anger, anxiety or stress, phobias or even a physical ailment such as unexplained aches, pain or illness. These blockages, which come from thoughts or feelings that stop us doing something, are known as limiting beliefs. We can recognize this as a lack confidence, low self-esteem and possibly compulsive or addictive behavior, all these cause dis-ease in the body.

Everything we have ever felt, is stored in our bodies energy system, the good, the bad and the ugly! These beliefs could go back years, maybe even lifetimes, they probably don’t serve us anymore and yet we hang on to them. We are not comfortable with them, but we are afraid to let them go because we have always had them.

EFT is on ongoing process, much like peeling an onion one layer at a time.  The more unresolved issues you can clear, the more peace and emotional freedom you will have in your life.

Limiting beliefs and old trauma can vanish, self-confidence can soar, relationships can flourish and grow. A greater sense of wellbeing is possible, so you can welcome new challenges with a healthy, positive attitude.

 

So, how do Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) work?

How we think or feel about anything, mentally, physically or emotionally, has an emotion attached to it and emotions are very powerful. Even for physical issues, chronic pain, or diagnosed conditions, it is possible to uncover the emotion behind it.

Emotional Freedom Techniques is simply tapping on acupressure points on the head and upper body (as shown in the graphic below) whilst focusing on the negative emotions. Tapping the meridians helps to break down blockages, reducing the intensity of the negative emotions and replacing with positive ones. It really is that easy and once you learn the techniques you can use them anytime you need to, no matter where you are.
